4th of July

Another 4th of July has come and gone. Shelly and I spent the day over in Pekin, Indiana. We watched the parade from the same place Shelly and her family has watched it for years. After the parade, we walked down to the Pekin Park for the carnival. It was fun watching Karson and Ross on the rides. It was sprinkling the whole time, so we didn't stay for very long. After the Pekin festivities, the family had a nice luncheon at Grandma and Grandpa Hobsons. It is pretty hard for me to enjoy family pitch-ins when I am on Weightwatchers. I controlled myself though, and still had a good meal. Nate was walking around whole house; Sam is so close to walking on his own, but he's not quite there.
On Wed., July 1st the Wehners, a family from the Madison Ward, had their annual 4th of July party. They rented out Crystal Beach in downtown Madison and the whole ward was there. That night they had a fireworks display. We thought is was going to be a small and simple display, but oh were we wrong. They had people helping with parking, there were so many people. Paul Wehner was in charge of setting them off and it was incredible. It was much better than any small-town fireworks. They did a great job and we were delightfully surprised. The fireworks were going off right over our heads, which was cool except that a casing fell and hit me. It didn't hurt, but it sure startled me. Shelly says she felt something hit her toe as well.
